Why PH Bodyguards gloves?

As part of our continuous product range improvements, we received customer feedback about the previous ranges of disposable gloves we stocked. While the majority was positive, a number of customers identified PH Bodyguards gloves as a better equivalent product and after testing are now in stock. They were not only proven by our testing but regarded as the best in the industry, offering a range of safety solutions.

What's in the new range?

We have selected three new ranges of disposable gloves from Polyco Healthline's range. One blue nitrile and two black ranges including their Finite range.

GL895 blue nitrile gloves

The GL895 range of blue nitrile disposable gloves protect against contamination, dirt and potential irritants in low risk situations. Powder free, they reduce the risk of product contamination too. With textured fingertips for extra grip, they also feature a rolled cuff for additional strength and to prevent liquid roll back. AQL 4.0 rated.

GL897 black nitrile gloves

Synthetic rubber offers better puncture and abrasion resistance than natural rubber or vinyl. The soft elastic material feels cooler and is more comfortable and flexible to wear and with no latex proteins, eliminates protein sensitisation. They are also powder free, reducing the risk of product contamination. Textured fingertips for improved grip and a rolled cuff for additional strength and prevention of liquid roll back. AQL 1.5 rated.

GL100 Black Finite(R) heavy duty disposable gloves

Thicker than a standard disposable, it offers the choice of use as a heavy duty disposable glove or a lightweight re-usable glove. Its diamond grip pattern over the entire glove optimises surface performance and exceptional grip. Superior strength nitrile formulation provides exceptional resistance to tears and punctures even in the toughest environments. Minimises particulate contamination where product protection is of paramount importance. Being made of nitrile, there are no latex proteins - eliminates protein sensitisation. AQL 1.5 rated.

The Finite range of disposable gloves are ideal for tough environments like garages and workshops

What does AQL mean?

AQL means the Accepted Quality Level for disposable gloves. This refers to an internationally used quality standard for measuring the percentage of pinhole defects in disposable gloves. All gloves can have some tiny pinholes in them; this includes all nitrile, latex, sterile and non sterile gloves.

The test process involves checking batches of gloves during manufacturing to see how watertight they are. The most important thing to remember is that the lower the AQL number, the greater the amount of the protection you will have for your hands. This is reflected in the price too, which is directly comparable to the level of protection offered.

In the UK and Europe, the most common ratings are 1.5 and 4.0 but you can also commonly find 1.0 and 0.65 AQL rated gloves. These are often used in specialist areas such as chemotherapy clinics and microbiology laboratories. One thing to look out for, particularly when purchasing from well known auction sites is that some gloves that are imported from the USA often have a AQL of 2.5 as they have a poorer standard acceptable for non sterile examination gloves.
